Design thinking on User Experience.

Design thinking on User Experience.

Hello 👋

I’ve been studying user experience and user experience design with an academy FOF Africa. I’d love to jot down a little understanding of what I noticed or learned in a case study😌.

Alright, let’s dive in…

There’s a case study on ‘redesigning the New York Times app’ written by Johny Vino on the Medium app. Well, I read through his report and noticed that;

  1. There was a brief on the existence of the app and their own proposal, The Design process of how they sort the issues of the user, etc.

  2. The users' pain points were stated. Their difficulty is; that they hardly use it, they are irrelevant content which is annoying, etc. In other words, they tried to understand the user's needs and problems before attempting to design a solution.

  3. While they thought of a solution, they decided to propose a valuable feature called ‘Timely’. The approach is splendid and really helped the users' pains by always sending notifications to the users' schedules and habits without disrupting the entire platform.

I learned that I don't necessarily need to write the documentation as the stated design process we learned like ideating, user interviews, etc., but rather just know the processes and state how the project was solved. Also, I can look at already existing apps, observe them, create another design for an app, and probably give it another name. It can serve as an inspiration.
